Bio

    Self-taught artist Juan Antonio Hernandez was born in the industrial city of Hialeah, Florida. At the age of sixteen, he began working in the textile industry. At eighteen, he studied guitar and played in various bands around Miami until a severe hand injury cut his career short. In 1998, Hernandez moved to Seattle, Washington. He then began to express himself through painting.  In 2001, a friend introduced him to mosaics. He has since been incorporating painting and mosaics into his recent works.
